Liverpool’s immaculate triumph over Southampton

Diogo Jota’s early double set Liverpool on their way to a mashing 4-0 triumph over Southampton on Saturday to elevate to second in the Premier League rankings.

Andrew Robertson open the scoring after 97 seconds, prior another simple finish following great work from Mohamed Salah put Liverpool two goals up and in dominance inside 32 minutes.

Thiago Alcantara appended to his impressive goal facing Porto in the Champions League in midweek with a third five minutes later and Virgil van Dijk supported himself to a fourth in opposition to his former club early in the second half.

Jota had an appreciable chance to finalize his hat-trick but could not link from close range as Liverpool mollified to a victory that augmented them above champions Manchester City, who will play West Ham United on Sunday, and one point behind chiefs Chelsea.

Southampton had their zeniths but they could not cope carefully and the defeat left them 14th in the standings.
