IPL 2022: Here comes an extravaganza tourney

The countdown for IPL 2022 has begun as the tourney is set to begin tomorrow, i.e. 26th of March. In the opening game of this season, Chennai Super Kings will clash with Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

A total of 10 teams are participating in this version of the league. Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans are the two new franchises in the battle. Therefore this time, a total of 74 matches are going to be played in IPL 2022.

Considering COVID protocols, the whole competition is organized to be played within two cities- Mumbai and Pune.

Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai are the locations of IPL 2022. Pune’s MCA Stadium is the fourth venue. The locations of the playoffs and final of IPL 2022 are yet to be decided.

The 10 franchises are divided into two virtual groups. They will play a total of 14 games during the group stage. A team will compete in only 1 match versus the team at the same spot in the other group. They will play 2 games each against other teams. Nevertheless, all the teams will be categorized on the same points table in IPL 2022.
