After an exciting ODI series, it is time for the shortest format of the game, the t20s. In the first T20, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. India defeated Sri Lanka by 38 runs in the first T20. India defended a target of 164.

In the first innings, the start was brilliant for Sri Lanka as they got Prithvi Shaw out for a duck in the very first ball of the game. Indian batsmen then steadied the ship with notable contributions from Samson, Suryakumar, and Dhawan. Suryakumar Yadav top-scored for the team with a beautiful 50. Sri Lankan bowlers came back into the game after picking up crucial wickets of the Indian batsmen who were set and looking at a big score. The late comeback by the Lankan bowlers restricted India to a total of 164.

In the second innings, Sri Lanka started well but was thwarted by the class of Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal bowled at an economy of just over 4 and picked a crucial wicket upfront. Sri Lankan batsmen never looked settled as the Indian bowlers chipped in with wickets at regular intervals. Asalanka was the only player to get a decent score after which the entire batting lineup collapsed. Bhuvi demolished the Sri Lankan tail at the death with 3 wickets.

India won the match by 38 runs and Bhuvneshwar Kumar was declared the man of the match for his 4 wicket haul.
