Michael Edwards initially joined Liverpool in 2011 before taking on sporting director role, assisting Jurgen Klopp’s side acquire Champions League title in 2019 and first league title in 30 years in 2020; assistant sporting director Julian Ward will displace Edwards in summer 2022.
Edwards first met Liverpool in November 2011 and has played an imperative role in the club’s triumphant recruitment in recent seasons.
He has vouched he will leave the club when his current agreement expires in the summer of 2022, and will be displaced by deputy sporting director Julian Ward.
Edwards applaused Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and reckons the German will go down as one of the greatest managers in the club’s history after fetching both the Premier League and Champions League.
