Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs to claim their 4th IPL title

Chennai Super Kings have beaten the Kolkata Knight Riders to win their 4th IPL title. MS Dhoni has done it again as he leads CSK to the IPL title as they beat KKR by 27 runs at the Dubai international stadium.

Earlier KKR captain Morgan won the toss and elected to field first. Chennai Super Kings started off in an exceptional way as their in-form openers Faf Du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad were on song once again. Ruturaj scored 32 off 27 balls which included some elegant stroke plays. Faf Du Plessis played a brilliant knock of 86 runs of 59 balls. He took CSK to 192 runs in 20 overs. Robin Uthappa scored 31 runs off just 15 balls in his comeback IPL. Moeen Ali played a crucial supporting role down the order with Faf as he scored 37 runs off 20 balls.

In the second innings, the KKR openers followed the CSK opening onslaught as Venky Iyer and Shubman Gill scored 55 runs in the powerplay. Iyer scored 50 runs and Gill scored 51 runs as they continued their wonderful partnership upfront. The Chennai bowlers came back into the game as Shardul Thakur took two quick wickets of Iyer and Rana. There was no looking back as KKR just fell apart and began losing wickets at intervals. Jadeja then came and took 2 wickets in the same over as Chennai were all over Kolkata.

Faf Du Plessis won the man of the match award.

Chennai Super Kings now have 4 IPL trophies in total. Ruturaj Gaikwad won the orange cap for his exceptional batting throughout the IPL. He scored 635 runs. Harshal Patel won the purple cap for his 32 wickets for Bangalore.
