Tottenham face disturbance after coronavirus breakout in squad

Tottenham’s compositions for their pre-Christmas fixtures have been disturbed by a coronavirus breakout at the club.

It is realized a number of players and club staff have returned positive Covid-19 tests.

More PCR testing is due to happen over the next 24 hours.

Spurs are due to play against Rennes in a pivot Europa Conference League group game in London on Thursday prior a Premier League tour to Brighton on Sunday.

Under UEFA rules, if they have 13 available players, counting a goalkeeper, from their 25-man A list, they must satisfy the Rennes fixture, which they need to triumph to stand a chance of qualifying for the final 32.

The game could be postponed if they do not have adequate player numbers but all group matches must be accomplished by 31 December.

In a statement, UEFA stated: “The match is due to take place as scheduled.”

It is yet to be initiated whether the club will contact the Premier League about Sunday’s game at the Amex Stadium, however a decision to postpone league matches can only be executed by the competition board.
