Sports minister Govind Gaude stated that about 85% infrastructure for hosting the National Games is ready.
Stating that sports was mistreated in the state, Gaude stated that he has attended Khelo India Youth Games to encourage young Goan sportspersons.
“I am hopeful that games like Khelo India Youth Games will be hosted in Goa during my tenure and to see how to prepare for such an event I attended it,” he stated.
He stated that National Games and Khelo India Games are different events and both will occur in the state.
“My focus is on the National Games and accordingly I have spoken to the Union minister,’ Gaude stated.
The sports minister stated that the state has to complete the sports infrastructure for the National Games.
“We are creating and revamping infrastructure keeping in mind the under-17 Fifa World Cup and all these preparations are being done for hosting the National Games,” he further said.
Gaude said that the Campal and Margao swimming pools will be hesitantly inaugurated by the end of June.
