Smriti Mandhana Breaks Mithali Raj’s Record With Historic Century Against Hong Kong

Smriti Mandhana produced a stunning performance against Hong Kong in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup on September 3, 2026, in Dubai.

The Indian vice-captain smashed 124 runs from 64 balls. Her explosive innings helped India post 193 for 5.

India then bowled out Hong Kong for just 56 in 16.2 overs. The Women in Blue secured a huge 137-run victory.

Mandhana reached her century in only 57 balls. The knock also helped her create several major records in women’s international cricket.

Her 124 took her international run tally to 10,880. She moved past Mithali Raj’s previous record of 10,868 runs.

Mandhana is now the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket.

Her performance also earned praise from teammate Jemimah Rodrigues.

“My sister is a legend. Leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket,” Rodrigues wrote on her Instagram story.

Mandhana breaks multiple records

Mandhana’s century was her second in Women’s T20Is. She became the first Indian woman to score two centuries in the format.

The knock also took her international century tally to 18. She moved past former Australia captain Meg Lanning, who had 17 centuries.

Mandhana has now scored centuries in all three international formats. She is the first Indian woman to achieve the feat.

Rodrigues celebrated another major milestone on social media.

“18 for a reason,” Rodrigues wrote.

Mandhana also reached her 93rd fifty-plus score in women’s international cricket. That saw her equal Mithali Raj’s record for the most fifty-plus scores.

Her 37th fifty-plus score in WT20Is is also a format record. Australia’s Beth Mooney is next with 33.

Mandhana smashed seven sixes during her innings. This took her past Harmanpreet Kaur for the most sixes by an Indian woman in WT20Is.

She is also the fastest woman to reach 10,000 international runs. Mandhana achieved the landmark in 280 innings.

Her latest century has further strengthened her position among the greatest batters in women’s cricket.
