PSG forward isolating following resulting positive for Covid-19

Lionel Messi is one of four players to result positive for Covid-19.

The Argentine forward and team-mates Juan Bernat, Nathan Bitumazala and Sergio Rico were vouched to have Covid a day prior PSG’s French Cup tie versus fourth-tier side Vannes.

The set of four are said to be isolating.

Mauricio Pochettino appended that Messi remained in Argentina where he spent the winter break and would not travel until resulting negative.

During a pre-match news conference on Sunday, Pochettino stated he could not mention a date on Messi’s return.

PSG’s first league match of 2022 following their winter break is against Lyon on Sunday, 9th of January.

Neymar will miss that game as he continues his healing from an ankle injury in Brazil.

PSG say he is anticipated to return to training in three weeks.
