Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has failed to fully recover from his back injury that will rule him out of IPL 2023 with no clear indication of when he will take the field.
This news has come out from a special source of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI). It is believed that Bumrah, who could not play in the T20 World Cup 2022 played in Australia last year, will have to undergo a back operation.
“Bumrah is out of IPL as he will not be able to come back for the next six months. Till then, he cannot come back. The target is the ODI World Cup but he will not be able to come back in that tournament.” “I am not even sure to play,” said a BCCI source.
In such a situation, if India reaches the final of the World Test Championship (WTC Final), then even Bumrah will not be able to play in it. The final of the World Test Championship begins at The Oval from June 7. IPL 2023 begins on March 31 and Bumrah is Mumbai Indians’ main pacer. The ODI World Cup (World Cup 2023) will be played in India in the next October-November.
The 28-year-old Bumrah played five Tests, five ODIs and as many T20 Internationals for Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2022 apart from an IPL match. Jasprit Bumrah was last seen playing in the 2022 tour of England. He then missed the Asia Cup (Asia Cup 2022) and the T20 World Cup due to a back injury.
