India defeats Sri Lanka in Second Test to Whitewash the Series

India showcased another impressive performance to whitewash Sri Lanka by 238 runs in the Second Test and lead the two-match series 2-0 on Monday in Bengaluru.

The Rohit Sharma-led squad began Day 3 of the pink-ball day-night Test requiring 9 wickets and they acquired that within a session and a half to extend their supremacy on home soil.

Shreyas Iyer was announced the Player of The Match for his twin half-centuries. India wicketkeeper-cum-batter Rishabh Pant was declared as Player of The Series for his effective performances with the bat and ensured keeping behind the stumps.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah were the stars of the whole game for India. The off-spinner fetched four wickets and also overpassed Dale Steyn in the highest wicket-takers’ list to lead India’s charge. On the other hand, Bumrah came up with 3 wickets to back his five-wicket haul in the first innings.

Considering Sri Lanka, captain Dimuth Karunaratne played a magnificent knock, striking his 14th Test ton whilst Kusal Mendis banged a half-century. However, it was not enough as India bowled them out for 208 in the second innings to finish the series.

The hosts had triumphed the first Test by an innings and 222 runs.

For now, the Indian cricketers will go on a break prior entering the bio-bubble for 2022 IPL, which begins on 26th of March.
