Football manager lost his life from cardiac attack while celebrating last-minute winner

Egyptian football manager Adham El-Selhadar has expired in tragic conditions after watching his side score a 92nd-minute winner.

He beard a cardiac attack in the instant aftermath of his side’s goal facing El Zarqa in an Egyptian Second League match on Thursday.

 

Whilst the goal originally sparked gleeful celebrations, the mood quickly disconsolated after El-Selhadar was rushed to hospital having suffered a cardiac attack during the suceeding scenes following the goal.

Vindication of his death has led to a wave of tributes from some of the biggest names in Egyptian football, with pair of top tier clubs Al Ahly SC and Ismaily SC – the latter of whom El-Selhadar managed – since publishing heartfelt posts.

Al Ahly’s stated: “Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib, president of the club, and the members of the board of directors, mourn with great sadness and sorrow, Coach Adham El-Selhadar, the former Ismaily player, who passed away on Thursday.”

“Praying to the Almighty to cover the deceased with his vast mercy and enter him into his vast gardens.”

Ismaily SC recalled their rivals sentiments, their statement voicing: “The Ismaily Board of Directors, headed by Engineer Yahya El-Komy, mourns the death of Adham El-Selhadar, a star and former coach of the team, who passed away as a result of a sudden heart attack, following his follow-up to the match of his team, “El-Majd” Alexandria, in the second division league competitions.”

“Against this background, the Board of Directors declared 3 days of mourning for the soul of the late.”

El Magd have since declared a six-day period of sorrowing whilst also pondering to suspend their next fixture against Pioneers FC.

El-Sehadar is a praiseworthy coach in Egypt, but also enjoyed an outstanding playing career littered with a number of impressive titles.

During his period with Ismaily SC, he earned the Egyptian Premier League in the mid-1990’s as well as fetching a domestic cup in the same period.
