Coach Head-butts Woman Referee in a Football Game

Sometimes, in football, emotions take over the players, team management and also the fans.

The intensity levels augment which sometimes get the good of the individual involved, giving rise to undesirable scenes on or off the field.

Such an incident occurred in a quarter-final match of the Campeonato Capixava tourney at the Estadio Municipal Zenor Pedrosa Rocha stadium between Nova Venecia and Desportiva when Desportiva’s head coach Rafael Soriano was right away sent off following he head-butted a woman referee on the field.

A video spread online which displayed how Rafael hit the referee on her nose with his head.

Coach Rafael had stomped to the pitch criticizing a decision of a referee as soon as the half-time was declared. This action earned him a yellow card.

The warning also did not go well with Rafael as he let out the tension on Marcielly Netto, the lineswoman, who had interfered to release the tension.

A club statement was later presented criticizing the act of violence by Rafael and it said that the club had separated with the coach.

The game finished in Nova’s favour as they triumphed the second leg of the quarter-final 3-1 which resulted in having an aggregate of 5-1 in the period of the two legs.
