The International Olympic Committee has selected the Australian city of Brisbane to host the 2032 Olympic Games. This will be known as the Games of the XXXV Olympiad. The factors involved in the selection of the city were the percentage of existing venues, support levels of government, support from the private sector, experience in hosting major events, and weather conditions.
With this, Australia has become only the second country to host the Olympic Games in three different cities after the United States of America. This will be the third time that Australia hosts the Games after Melbourne in 1956 and Sydney in 2000.
This announcement was greeted with fireworks in Brisbane. It’s a historic day not just for Brisbane and Queensland, but for the entire country,” said Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
