Big overhaul concerning IPL Mega Auction

A big update is coming out concerning the mega auction to be held prior IPL 2022, where the discussion of change in its dates be disclosed.

Till now BCCI and IPL Governing Council were planning to hold IPL 2022 auction in the first week of January, but now the dates can go ahead. According to a report, the mega auction of IPL can be held in the third week of January rather than the first week.

The reason for this change is that the BCCI has not yet permitted to the new franchise Ahmedabad to buy players.

BCCI official stated, “The mega auction is not possible before the third week of January as they are still waiting for the decision of the Ahmedabad franchise.”

“Unless this is done, the auction dates cannot be finalized. Apart from this, we have to give proper window to both Lucknow and Ahmedabad.”

“They have to sign their three players before the auction. We will probably not see the auction before the third and fourth week of January.”

This will be the format of IPL after new teams are introduced

With the inclusion of two new teams, IPL 2022 will continue for more than two months. The BCCI is planning to organize the final game in the first week of June, with a plausible date being June 4 or 5.

This time all the teams will play 14-14 matches, in which 7 matches will be played at their home ground and 7 matches will be played on the opposition team’s field.

Though the BCCI has not officially issued the schedule. Because of the Covid-19, the last two seasons of the IPL have been conducted in the UAE, but next year the tourney will be held in India.
