Indian batsmen then steadied the ship with notable contributions from Samson, Suryakumar, and Dhawan. Suryakumar Yadav top-scored for the team with a beautiful 50. Sri Lankan bowlers came back into the game after picking up crucial wickets of the Indian batsmen who were set and looking at a big score. The late comeback by the Lankan bowlers restricted India to a total of 164.
In the second innings, Sri Lanka started well but was thwarted by the class of Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal bowled at an economy of just over 4 and picked a crucial wicket upfront. Sri Lankan batsmen never looked settled as the Indian bowlers chipped in with wickets at regular intervals. Asalanka was the only player to get a decent score after which the entire batting lineup collapsed. Bhuvi demolished the Sri Lankan tail at the death with 3 wickets.
India won the match by 38 runs and Bhuvneshwar Kumar was declared the man of the match for his 4 wicket haul.
