The country’s cricket board stated, former Bangladesh left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain has expired.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) declared on twitter the demise of Hossain. He is survived by his wife and 1 child.
“The BCB mourns the passing of former Bangladesh National Team player Musharraf Hossain Rubel,” the BCB stated in the tweet.
“The left-arm spinner amassed over 550 wickets across all formats in a career spanning two decades. The BCB extends profound sympathies and condolences.”
As per ESPNcricinfo, Hossain was sustaining from brain cancer, which was identified in March 2019. He had retrieved after undergoing treatment, however the tumour deteriorated in November 2020.
As per the website, Hossain had been in a hospital over the last couple of weeks, but was sent back home following another spell of chemotherapy recently.
He was born in Dhaka in 1981, Hossain played 5 ODI games for Bangladesh between 2008 and 2016, taking 4 wickets.
He was one of 7 cricketers to score 3000 runs and take 300 wickets in first-class cricket in Bangladesh.
Among the memorable of his career was triumphing the Player-of-the-Match award in the 2013 Bangladesh Premier League final.
