Punjab Kings all-rounder Shashank Singh has denied all assault allegations made against him after an FIR was registered by Bhopal Police. The case also names his father, retired Special Director General of Police Shailesh Singh, and the family’s driver. The FIR was filed on June 29 following a complaint by the family’s former cook, Vipendra Singh Tomar.
Tomar, 31, is from Rewa and had started working at the Singh family’s home in Bhopal’s Neelbad area on June 25. According to his complaint, he was assaulted, abused, and had his mobile phone taken away after he told the family that he wanted to leave the job. Based on his statement, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A medical examination later reportedly found injury marks on his face and body.
Reacting to the allegations, Shashank Singh strongly denied any wrongdoing. He said, “All the allegations against me, including the assault charges, are completely false and baseless. I have no knowledge of this matter.”
Shashank claims cook was secretly recording the house
Shashank Singh also claimed that the former cook had been secretly taking photos and recording videos inside the family’s home. According to him, Tomar was sharing those visuals with people outside the house. Singh said this was the real reason the cook was asked to leave.
He admitted that the family did not inform the police immediately after removing Tomar from the job. Singh described this as a mistake but added that he does not know what happened to the cook after he left the house.
Meanwhile, police at Ratibad Police Station in Bhopal have continued their investigation. Officers are examining Tomar’s complaint and the medical report before taking further action.
Shashank Singh remains a member of the Punjab Kings squad. The franchise finished fifth in the IPL 2026 points table and failed to qualify for the playoffs.
