The Roland Garros Tournament will be held from 24th May to 13th June. It will be the second Grand Slam Event of 2021 and the 125th edition of the French Open. This spring, France will be the first one to get the liberty of welcoming back viewers.
Out of 128 players, it will include 16 qualifiers for men and 16 for women in each draw.

How many Spectators are allowed in the stadium?
The Roland Garros tournament will adjust its spectator capacity according to the restrictions in place.
There will be three phases in terms of spectator capacity –
- 24th to 28th May – Qualifying Rounds will be played without Spectators
- 30th May to 8th June – Stadium will welcome 5,388 spectators per day.
- 9th June Onwards – Philippe-Chartier court can welcome 5,000 people. But the spectators who will be having a ‘health pass will only be allowed to enter the stadium.
Introduction of Night Sessions
Amelie Oudea-Castera said, “This year, with the introduction of night sessions, Roland-Garros is entering a new stage.
Till 8th June, there is a curfew till 9 p.m; the sessions that are scheduled on Philippe-Chartier court from 31st May will be closed for spectators.
However, on 9th June, France will be in the 3rd phase of lifting restrictions, and the curfew will be pushed to 11 p.m. On that day, Roland-Gross will be able to welcome up to 5,000 viewers for the historic night. That night will be a men’s quarterfinal match and is scheduled to start one hour earlier, i.e. 8 p.m., than other night sessions.
Are there any health and safety protocols?
There have been proper safety protocols, such as hand sanitiser, masks, social distancing, and various health measures.
But, this year, the seating is made within the stadium. The viewers can only eat at their seats.
Where will the French Open LIVE be broadcasted in India?
Indians can watch French Open LIVE on Star Sports, and fans in Pan-Asia regions can move to Fox Sports.
What will be the Prize Money?
The prize money will be the same as 2020, i.e. €34,367,215.
Last year, in Men’s Single, Rafael Nadal was the winner, and in Women’s Single, Iga Swiatek took the prize. It will be exciting to watch who claims the prize this year.
