Rohit Sharma ruled out of MI vs PBKS clash due to hamstring injury

Rohit Sharma will miss Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings on April 16 at the Wankhede Stadium. The MI opener is out due to a hamstring injury. The issue happened during the last match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The team is yet to confirm how serious the injury is. More details are expected in the pre-match press conference on April 15. For now, it is clear that Rohit will not play the upcoming game.

Rohit got injured in the second innings against RCB. He was batting well but had to retire hurt in the sixth over. MI went on to lose that match. It was their third loss in four games this season.

Despite the injury, Rohit has been in good form. He has scored 137 runs in four matches. His average is 45.67. His strike rate is 165.06. His absence is a big setback for MI at the top of the order.

MI may bring in Quinton de Kock as a replacement opener. Another option is to promote Suryakumar Yadav to open. He could partner Ryan Rickelton at the top.

MI under pressure, PBKS in strong form

MI are struggling this season. They are ninth on the points table. They have won only one match in four games. Their only win came against Kolkata Knight Riders. After that, they lost to Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, and RCB.

PBKS, on the other hand, are in great form. They are second on the table. They have won three out of four matches. Their chasing has been very strong. They will look to continue their winning run and stay in the top two.
