Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashes Second-Fastest List A Century by an Indian
Earlier in the innings, the left-handed batter reached his century in only 36 balls. This made it the second-fastest century by an Indian in List A cricket history. The fastest Indian List A hundred remains Anmolpreet Singh’s 35-ball century.
He achieved that feat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy last season. Suryavanshi now sits just behind him on the elite list. Globally, the fastest List A century belongs to Jake Fraser-McGurk, who scored one in 29 balls.
AB de Villiers follows with a 31-ball hundred. By the time Suryavanshi was dismissed, Bihar had already crossed 260 runs within 27 overs. His explosive start ensured Bihar headed towards a massive first-innings total.
The Arunachal Pradesh bowlers struggled badly. None of them managed an economy rate under seven runs per over during his stay at the crease.
Techi Neri conceded runs at more than 15 runs an over while Suryavanshi was batting. Suryavanshi recently featured in the U-19 Asia Cup. He finished fourth among the tournament’s highest run-scorers.
However, he managed only a quick 26 off 10 balls in the final against Pakistan. India lost that match by 191 runs in Dubai last week.
