Suryakumar Yadav donates Asia Cup match fees to Indian Army, wins hearts!

India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav was full of joy after India beat Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai on Sunday, September 28. Soon after the big win, he made a special announcement. He said he would donate his entire match fees from the tournament to the Indian Army.

Suryakumar Yadav Pledges Match feed to the Army and Victims

Suryakumar spoke about the decision at the press conference. Later, he also wrote about it on platform X. He said the money will go to soldiers involved in Operation Sindoor. He added that it will also help the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.

“I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack. You always remain in my thoughts. Jai Hind,” Suryakumar Yadav tweeted.

This is not the first time Suryakumar has shown support for the forces or the victims of Pahalgam. His action again showed his respect and love for the nation.

But the final also brought controversy. After India’s win, the players did not step on the stage to receive the trophy from PCB and ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi. Because of this, Naqvi left with the trophy. India celebrated their win without it.

Speaking about the issue, Suryakumar said,

“I think this is one thing that I have never seen since I started playing cricket, since I started following cricket, that a champion team is denied to get a trophy. I mean that, too, a hard-earned one…I feel we deserved it and I can’t say anything more.”

On the ground, India chased Pakistan’s 147 runs with five wickets in hand. They won with just two balls to spare. Tilak Varma was the star. He scored 69 runs off 53 balls. His knock included three fours and four sixes.

The BCCI later announced a cash prize of ₹21 crore for the players and support staff.
