The Indian men’s hockey team has lifted the Asia Cup once again. The players showed great skill and teamwork to claim the title. Their victory also gave India a direct entry into next year’s FIH World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Veteran midfielder Manpreet Singh played a key role in the win. The 33-year-old belongs to Mithapur village near Jalandhar in Punjab. Born into a farming family, he has always stayed close to his roots. After the win on Sunday, he made a heartfelt tribute to his home state.

Manpreet said the victory was dedicated to the people of Punjab. The state is facing one of its worst floods in decades. “This triumph is for every victim fighting to rebuild their life,” he said. He also praised the volunteers who are helping the affected families. “Your spirit is our true inspiration. This win is a tribute to your courage,” the Olympic medallist added.
The floods have caused massive destruction in Punjab. Officials said many lives have been lost. Crops on 1.76 lakh hectares have been damaged. Rivers like the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi have overflowed after heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Seasonal rivulets have also added to the crisis.

India’s Fourth Asia Cup Title
This victory is India’s fourth Asia Cup title. The team had earlier won in 2003 in Kuala Lumpur, in 2007 in Chennai, and in 2017 in Dhaka. With this, India have become the second-most successful team in the history of the tournament. Korea remain on top with five titles.
For the players, the triumph was a proud moment. For Manpreet Singh, it was also deeply personal. He carried the hopes of his state and country and turned the win into a message of solidarity for Punjab.
