India have started their 2022 Women’s World Cup campaign with an astonishing 107-run victory over arch-rivals Pakistan.

The Women in Blue will be joyful with the way their lower middle-order reacted following their top order did not impacted heavily. The bowlers too contributed and assured that the target of 245 was a hurdle for Pakistan.

Mithali Raj did not hesitated in choosing to bat first following winning the toss. Nevertheless, the Indians did not get the start that they were wishing for. The Women in Blue kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and at one stage were struggling at 114/6.

And then, Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana got together at the crease and established an imperative partnership for the seventh wicket. The duet performed magnificently, making the Pakistan bowlers in distress.

Deliberately, the duo took their team to a good total and added a significant 122 runs together. Half-centuries from Vastrakar and Rana vouched that their team had a competitive total of 244/7 on the board.

Pakistan had not chased such a big target yet and so, it was really important for them to get off to a good start. Nonetheless, left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad kept on tricking and taking wickets at regular intervals.

Jhulan Goswami and Rana also fetched a couple of wickets each as Pakistan were all down for just 137. This win has taken the Indian Women’s streak to 11 undefeated games versus Pakistan Women in ODIs.
