Why Kartik Tyagi was allowed to bowl despite two waist-high no-balls in LSG vs KKR super over clash

A strange moment took place during the Indian Premier League clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders. Fast bowler Kartik Tyagi was allowed to complete the final over despite bowling two waist-high no-balls.

KKR were defending 17 runs in the last over. Tyagi started under pressure. During the over, he bowled a high full toss to Himmat Singh around chest height. It was called a no-ball. The next delivery, which was a free hit, was also above the waist.

As per the usual rules, a bowler should be removed after bowling two such no-balls. Another player must complete the over. KKR players even gathered in a huddle. Anukul Roy was expected to take over. He started setting the field. But suddenly, Tyagi marked his run-up again and continued bowling.

Why umpires allowed Tyagi to continue

The confusion was cleared soon after. The rule says a bowler is removed only if both deliveries are considered dangerous. In this case, the umpires decided that the second no-ball was not dangerous.

The commentators also confirmed the same on air. They added that the second delivery was not intentional. Hence, Tyagi was allowed to finish the over.

The final over was dramatic. Tyagi conceded 16 runs when 17 were needed. Mohammed Shami hit a six on the last ball to level the scores. The match went into a Super Over.

In the Super Over, Sunil Narine bowled brilliantly. He dismissed Nicholas Pooran on the first ball. Aiden Markram also got out soon after.

KKR chased the small target easily. Rinku Singh finished the game in just one ball, sealing a thrilling win.
