Virat Kohli has been the face of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) since the beginning of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The former India captain is the only player to have spent 19 seasons with a single franchise. His loyalty to RCB has made him one of the most respected figures in the tournament’s history.
Kohli finally achieved his dream of winning the IPL title after years of waiting. He had to wait 18 seasons before lifting the trophy. In IPL 2026, he played a key role in helping RCB successfully defend their title. He also won the Player of the Match award in the final.
At 37 years old, questions about Kohli’s future continue to be discussed. He has already retired from Test cricket and T20 Internationals. The batting great now only represents India in One-Day Internationals. His major target remains the 2027 ODI World Cup.
RCB CEO expects Kohli to play for at least four more years
Despite concerns about his age, Kohli has shown no signs of slowing down. RCB CEO Rajesh Menon believes fans will continue to see him in the IPL for several more seasons.
“RCB and Virat are different sides of the same coin. He’s been the constant factor for RCB throughout. We’ve not seem him not being part of RCB even if he moves out of his cricketing career. We’ve to figure out that. That said, next three-to-four years, I’m sure he’ll be playing for at least four years,” Menon told CNBC TV18.
Kohli remains one of the fittest athletes in world cricket. His fitness standards continue to impress fans and experts alike. He has also adapted his batting style in recent seasons. The right-hander has become more aggressive in the powerplay and has consistently scored at a high strike rate.
In IPL 2026, Kohli scored 675 runs in 16 matches. He averaged 56.25 and maintained a strike rate of 165.85. It was his best strike rate in a single IPL season.
With his form and fitness still at a high level, Kohli looks ready to continue entertaining IPL fans for years to come.
