Tim David Fined by IPL for Offensive Gesture During RCB vs MI Clash

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Tim David has been fined 30 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during RCB’s match against Mumbai Indians in Raipur on Sunday, May 10.

The Australian batter also received two demerit points for the incident. According to reports, David violated Article 2.6 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to “showing an offensive gesture” during a match.

The incident reportedly happened after RCB’s thrilling win over Mumbai Indians. Soon after the match, videos of the gesture went viral on social media. Fans reacted strongly online, and the moment quickly became a major talking point among cricket followers.

The IPL is expected to release an official statement regarding the punishment soon. However, the reported fine and demerit points have already drawn attention ahead of RCB’s upcoming matches in the tournament.

Andy Flower Also Penalised after RCB vs MI

Apart from Tim David, RCB head coach Andy Flower was also punished for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the same game.

Flower was fined 15 percent of his match fees for the “use of an audible obscenity during a match.” He was found guilty of violating Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

The incident took place during the 17th over of RCB’s innings. Flower was reportedly involved in a heated discussion with the fourth umpire near the dugout area.

Despite the controversy, RCB managed to register an important victory against Mumbai Indians. The win helped the Bengaluru-based franchise strengthen its position in the IPL 2026 points table.
