Due to an injury, three-time champion Rafa Nadal has withdrawn from the Masters 1000 competition in Indian Wells, which will begin next week.
The 36-year-old Spaniard, who finished second at Indian Wells last year, hasn’t played since his title defence at the Australian Open in January ended in a second-round loss.
“We wish Rafa continued healing, and hope to see him back at the BNP Paribas Open next year,” tournament director Tommy Haas said in a statement.
At Indian Wells, Nadal triumphed in 2007, 2009, and 2013.
