Quinton de Kock and David Miller criticise ICC over bias after ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 exit

South Africa veterans Quinton de Kock and David Miller have expressed frustration with the International Cricket Council (ICC) over travel arrangements after their teams were eliminated from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Both players questioned why England cricket team were allowed to leave India earlier even though they exited the tournament later than South Africa national cricket team and West Indies cricket team.

Travel plans for several teams have been affected due to international airspace restrictions. These disruptions are linked to rising tensions in the Middle East. Because of this situation, South Africa and the West Indies were still in Kolkata even after their campaigns had ended.

West Indies were knocked out of the tournament during the Super 8 stage on March 1. South Africa’s journey ended after their semi-final loss to New Zealand national cricket team on March 4. England, however, were eliminated on March 5 but reportedly left India on Saturday evening.

Quinton De Kock and David Miller question ICC decision

De Kock shared his frustration on social media. He said the players had not received clear information about their travel plans. He also questioned why England were able to leave earlier.

“Funny @icc, we have heard nothing! Meanwhile, England are leaving before us somehow? @westindies and @proteasmencsa are just in the dark! Strange how different teams have more pull than others,” De Kock wrote.

Miller also reacted to the situation. The experienced middle-order batter agreed with his teammate and raised concerns about the apparent difference in treatment.

“Funny that England gets eliminated after WI & SA and gets on a charter back home tonight, while WI & SA still wait for answers in Kolkata,” Miller wrote.

According to reports, the ICC is currently working on travel arrangements for the two teams. However, both sides were still waiting for official confirmation at the time of writing.

South Africa and the West Indies are expected to travel together from Kolkata on Sunday, March 8, once the arrangements are finalised.
