PCB Imposes PKR 5 Million Fine on Players After Pakistan’s Super Eights Exit: Reports

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken strict action after Pakistan crashed out of the T20 World Cup 2026 in the Super Eights stage. The board has reportedly fined each player PKR 5 million for poor performance in the tournament. The decision has shocked many fans and experts.

Senior players are also included in the penalty list. Former captain Babar Azam, fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, and all-rounder Shadab Khan are among those fined. Reports say the fine applies to every squad member who failed to deliver in the event.

PCB Sends Strong Message After Disappointing Campaign

Pakistan were placed in Group A. The group included arch-rivals India national cricket team along with the Netherlands, Namibia, and the United States. Pakistan defeated the associate teams and qualified for the Super Eights without much trouble. However, their performance dropped sharply in the next stage.

They failed to win key matches in the Super Eights. As a result, they were knocked out before reaching the semi-finals. Fans were disappointed as expectations were high from the experienced squad.

According to reports by Express Tribune, the PCB believes the players were given enough chances and support in the past. The board now feels that stricter measures are needed to improve standards. It has also made it clear that financial rewards in the future will depend only on performance.

This decision shows that the PCB wants accountability. The board hopes that this strong step will motivate players to perform better in upcoming tournaments. Pakistan cricket now faces a rebuilding phase after another major ICC event setback.
