Players from both teams rushed towards him. Punjab batters Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh also looked concerned. The medical team quickly entered the field. A neck brace was placed on Ngidi to keep him stable. He received treatment on the ground before being taken to a hospital in Karol Bagh.
There is now good news for Delhi Capitals. According to reports, Ngidi has been discharged from the hospital. He has returned to the team hotel and is recovering well.
“Lungi Ngidi is doing well and has now returned to the DC team hotel in New Delhi. Him being sent back to the hotel after being discharged from the hospital is a very positive indication of his recovery, and the franchise medical staff will continue to take good care of him,” said sources to IANS.
The injury also affected Delhi Capitals during the match. They could not bring in Dushmantha Chameera as a concussion substitute. This was due to overseas player rules. Instead, they picked Vipraj Nigam from the substitutes list.
In the match, KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 152. Nitish Rana added 91 runs. Delhi posted 264/2.
However, Punjab Kings chased the target and secured a historic win.
