Lionel Messi toured Barcelona last month and met with current boss Xavi Hernandez along with plethora of other former teammates.
It was the first time that Messi came back to Barca since quiting the club for PSG in the summer transfer window.
Having not been called for the Argentina national team during the break, his abundant break were made by meeting with Xavi. And the duo are reckoned to have discussed various things during their dinner, counting the topic of transfers.
According to reports, the subject of PSG prospect Xavi Simons was broached and it is vouched that Messi suggested the current Barcelona manager not to sign the teenager in the summer.
Simons is a player Barça are amicable with, considering that he spent his growing years at the club’s famed La Masia youth setup. However, he chose to leave the FC Barca in the summer of 2019 for a more gainful agreement.
Whilst he made his first-team success under Pochettino last season, Simons has been unable to succeed and assure a spot in the side, making just 7 appearances in total so far. And with his agreement running out at the end of the season, the teenager is anticipated to move on in the summer.
There have been strong links about a potential return to Barcelona. Nevertheless, as per the report, Messi has recommended Xavi not to follow the 18-year-old’s signing.
Messi is believed to have told his former teammate that the PSG youngster is unprepared for the elite level of football yet and would not defend his current wage demands.
