Real Madrid mounted to the top of the La Liga table with a 2-1 win against Barcelona in the season’s first El Clasico at the Camp Nou Stadium on October 24th (IST).
Carlo Ancelotti’s team started off prominently as David Alaba opened the scoring in the 32nd minute from the edge of the box. Barcelona squeezed on their opponents but failed to get a single chance before Lucas Vazquez doubled the lead for Real Madrid in injury-time. Sergio Aguero scored his first goal for the Barca in the closing seconds of the match but the strike came too late.
