Checkout The IPL Revenue Model
As per the revenue model of the IPL, every team gets equal amounts of proportion from the central pool including the media rights and central brand sponsorships, which have consistently grown over the years, making the IPL an attractive tournament for the investors.
Over the years, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have grown to become the most popular team franchises in the tournament due to their viewership per match.
“We are not valuing the business. We are valuing the brand, which is a subset. CSK gets a premium because of its winnability and brand recall, thanks to MS Dhoni. Sponsors rank teams, evaluating the visibility they would get,” said Harsh Talikoti, Vice President, Corporate Valuation Advisory Services, Lokey during an exclusive conversation with Hindustan Times.
