The IPL 2022 not only will launch two new teams to the tourney- The Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), making it a ten-team competition. Plus, it is for the first time ever, Gujarati commentary will also be instigated to the fans in the league.
The IPL 2022 begins on 26th of March with Chennai Super Kings competing against Kolkata Knight Riders at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The tourney will see 12 doubleheaders as well, with a total of 74 games in the competition.
Just few days before the beginning of the tournament, it has been observed that new innovations have been included to the commentary team. It is for the first time, commentary will be showcased to the fans in Marathi and Gujarati languages as well.
Generally, apart from English and Hindi, the official broadcasters of the competition have also managed to keep the audience charming with Tamil and Kannada commentary in the past few years. Now Gujarati and Marathi languages have also been introduced.
Sanjog Gupta Head (Sports) of Disney Star stated, “We all want to show how this IPL is different from the previous 14 and what is new in it. This time IPL will have commentary in Bengali and Malayalam on Saturday and Sunday. Apart from this, we will also do commentary of the entire tournament in Marathi language. The entire IPL is being organized in Pune and Mumbai in Maharashtra.”
“No other state in India watches as much cricket as Maharashtra. According to the market and this time in IPL 74 matches will be shown in Marathi language. Apart from this, the Gujarat team is new, so we are doing Gujarati commentary for the first time”, he appended.
As per reports, the Gujarati commentary panel will feature the legends like former wicketkeeper-cum-batter Nayan Mongia, epic all-rounder Irfan Pathan, ex-stumper and the chairman of selectors Kiran More and one of the famous radio jockeys of Gujarat.
