Iga Swiatek showcased why she was the red-hot French Open favourite by defeating Coco Gauff in straight sets to triumph her second Grand Slam title.
Poland’s star, triumphed 6-1 6-3 versus the American teenager to seal her 35th straight win – equalling the longest WTA streak this century.
Gauff, 18, was contesting her first major final and made a nervous start.
Swiatek, who also triumphed Roland Garros in 2020, took full advantage and went on to earn her 6th consecutive title.
By fighting back from a break down in the second set, Swiatek triumphed the 56th of her past 58 sets.
She also maintained her streak of triumphing in finals, extending that record to 9 in a row.
Following a warm hug with Gauff, Swiatek went off court to hug her team and Poland footballer Robert Lewandowski, who came to watch on his day off from Nations League duty.
