Ex-KKR Coach Bharat Arun Joins LSG as Bowling Coach for IPL 2026

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have signed Bharat Arun as their new bowling coach. He will take up the role ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons.

Arun is a former India fast bowler. He is best known for his successful stint as India’s bowling coach. Under him, India’s bowling unit became one of the best in world cricket.

He recently worked with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He joined them in 2022 and was with the team for four seasons. During his time, KKR won the IPL title in 2024.

Bharat Arun Signs Two-Year Deal with LSG

Cricbuzz has confirmed that Arun has signed a two-year deal with the Lucknow franchise. The agreement means Arun will work with LSG players not just during the IPL, but all through the year.

The franchise has not made an official announcement yet. Arun also has not spoken publicly. But sources say the move has been in the works for a while.

Arun’s entry into LSG could mean the end of the road for Zaheer Khan. Zaheer was the team’s mentor last season. He had only a one-year contract. LSG is now reviewing his role. A renewal is unlikely.

The same goes for head coach Justin Langer. He has been part of the LSG setup for the last two seasons. But the management may look for a new head coach.

Arun and KKR Part Ways on Good Terms

Bharat Arun and KKR ended their partnership in a friendly manner. KKR already have Dwayne Bravo as a bowling mentor. So, there was a feeling that too many voices in the dressing room may not help the team.

KKR also has a policy of allowing its coaches to grow professionally. Arun informed them he wanted to leave, and the franchise respected his decision.

Now, KKR will look for a new bowling coach and head coach. The team will follow a detailed process before making any new appointments.
