England fast bowler Mark Wood has gone through surgery on the right elbow for an injury suffered in the first Test versus the West Indies in Antigua earlier this month, the nation’s cricket board (ECB) stated.
Wood, did not appear in the last two games of the three-Test series, which was earned 1-0 by the West Indies with a thrashing 10-wicket win in Grenada earlier. The injury also eliminated Wood of the IPL 2022.
“The surgery removed bone and scar tissue to address an impingement problem that was causing pain in his elbow when bowling,” the ECB stated in a statement.
“He will now commence rehabilitation with the ECB and Durham. A date for his return to play will be established in due course.”
