Delhi Capitals move into the top position in the points table after defeating Rajasthan Royals by 33 runs today.
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bowl in the desert as they looked to take down the in-form Delhi Capitals and increase their winning run.
The Rajasthan pace attack broke the in-form opening partnership quite cheaply. Young Indian lads Sakariya and Tyagi removed Dhawan and Shaw early on. Shreyas Iyer and Rishab Pant steadied the innings until Pant was removed by Mustafizur Rahman. Iyer played solid innings of 42 before getting out stumped. Delhi Capitals put up a decent total of 154 runs in 20 overs.
In the second innings, Rajasthan Royals got off to an absolute shambles of a start as they lost both their openers cheaply to the Delhi pace attack. The Delhi bowlers were all over the Royals batsmen as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Sanju Samson was the only batsman who played well. He remained not out scoring 70 runs off 53 balls. Apart from Samson, all the other RR batsmen struggled against Delhi’s bowling attack with Mahipal Lomror being the only other batsman to go into double figures.
Delhi Capitals won the game quite comfortably as they move to the top of the table above Chennai Super Kings. Shreyas Iyer was awarded the man of the match for his level-headed knock of 42 runs for Delhi Capitals.
