Kolkata Knight Riders continue their winning form as they thrash Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets

Kolkata knight riders continue their winning form by thrashing Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets. Kolkata won the toss and Eoin Morgan elected to field first and that was a gem of a decision as it totally worked in their favour.

KKR started with spin upfront for the first 3 overs. Openers Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock started cautiously scoring at a decent pace without losing any wickets. Unfortunately, that did not last long as Rohit got out to the mystery spinner Sunil Narine at long-on. Once the opening partnership was broken wickets started falling at regular intervals. The KKR bowlers kept things very tight throughout the match as Mumbai Indians managed to get only 155 runs in their 20 overs.

In the second innings, Mumbai Indians got the early wicket of Shubman Gill through Bumrah. After that, it was only fireworks from the KKR batsmen Rahul Tripathi and Venkatesh Iyer. These two played beautiful cricket as they smashed the Mumbai bowlers. They hardly gave any chance as their partnership was too great for Mumbai to come back into the game. Venkatesh Iyer and Rahul Tripathi ensured they chased down the total in 15.1 overs to jump to the fourth spot in the points table. MI, with their fifth defeat in nine games, is now sixth. Rahul remained not out for 74 runs as he took KKR home.

Kolkata chased the score of 155 runs in 15 overs as they climb onto 4th place in the points table. While Mumbai are languishing down at 6th place and will look to pull up their socks in the next few games.MI will now take on RCB on September 26 in Dubai while KKR will play the afternoon game on the same day against Chennai Super Kings.

Sunil Narine was awarded the man of the match award for his economical spell including the crucial wicket of Rohit Sharma.
