The table-toppers came together to contest for the top spot in the Vivo IPL today. Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals had to be a thriller. Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to field first on this low-scoring Dubai pitch.
The Delhi bowlers did not allow the famed opening pair of CSK to settle and got them out cheaply. Akshar Patel was the star with the ball up front as he took 2 wickets. Notjre, Ashwin and Avesh Khan claimed 1 wicket each. Ambati Rayudu was the top batsmen for CSK as he scored a very important 50 and stayed till the very end at the crease. He remained not out scoring 55 runs.
In the second innings, Delhi Capitals started well scoring 51 runs in the powerplay. Jadeja brought CSK back into the game with 2 crucial wickets including that of Pant who was looking dangerous. Shikhar Dhawan and debutant Ripal Patel stitched an important partnership. The man with the golden arm Shardul Thakur came to the party once again taking 2 wickets in a single over. He brought the advantage right back to Chennai as the match went down the wire.
Shimron Hetmyr stood till the very end to see his team through. With this win Delhi are now at the top of the table with one game left for them.
