India will have a busy Day 6 at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. Several Indian athletes will compete across boxing, weightlifting, athletics and swimming on Tuesday. Many of these events could add to India’s medal tally.
The day will begin with swimming events. Sajan Prakash will compete in the men’s 50m butterfly heats, while Srihari Nataraj will take part in the men’s 100m backstroke heats. In athletics, Vishal TK and Rajesh Ramesh will run in the men’s 400m Round 1 heats. Para swimmers Karthik Budigina and Ali Imam will also be in action in the men’s 50m freestyle S13 heats.
Boxing and Weightlifting in Focus
India’s biggest medal hopes will come later in the day. Nirupama Devi Seram will compete in the women’s 63kg weightlifting final at 6:30 PM IST. Harjinder Kaur will feature in the women’s 69kg final at 11:00 PM IST.
In boxing, Preeti Pawar will fight in the women’s 54kg quarter-final, while Priya Ghanghas will compete in the women’s 60kg quarter-final. A victory in the quarter-finals will guarantee at least a bronze medal, making these contests very important for the Indian team.
Athletics will also offer medal opportunities. Pooja Singh will compete in the women’s high jump final, while Gulveer Singh will take part in the men’s 10,000m final after midnight.
Before the start of Day 6, India are placed eighth in the Commonwealth Games 2026 medal table with 10 medals. The tally includes two gold, five silver and three bronze medals. Weightlifting has been India’s most successful sport so far with six medals. Para athletics has contributed two medals, while athletics and para powerlifting have won one medal each.
With several medal events scheduled, India will hope to improve its position in the standings and continue its strong campaign in Glasgow.
