Barcelona set to sign Bayern Munich superstar

A person with knowledge of the negotiations notifies, Barcelona are set to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski after the clubs reached an agreement for his transfer.

The person, who spoke unanimously because he was not permitted to speak publicly about the deal, stated that the official confirmation of the deal could come soon.

As per Spanish media the transfer would cost Barcelona some €50 million ($50.4 million).

Lewandowski, 33, one of football’s most prolific scorers of the past decade, would greatly augment Barcelona’s chances of reviving a competitive side following triumphing nothing last season after the departure of Lionel Messi.

Lewandowski scored 312 goals in 384 Bundesliga matches for Bayern and previous club Borussia Dortmund.

Poland striker assisted Bayern triumph the 2020 Champions League, after it destroyed Barcelona 8-2 in the quarterfinals.

He also gathered 10 Bundesliga titles, 4 German Cups, and a Club World Cup with the Bavarian powerhouse.

However, Lewandowski stated in late May that “my story with Bayern Munich is over” after contract extension talks with Bayern collapsed. He had 1 more season left on his agreement with Bayern.

He will now unite with a team coached by Xavi Hernández that dependent on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres for its goals after they joined last winter.

Now, with a virtuoso like Lewandowski soon to be on board, the club managed by Joan Laporta is clearly betting on triumphing titles again in the short term.

Last season, Barcelona concluded a distant second in Spain to Madrid and flunked to advance beyond the Champions League group phase.

Restoring a player who was Bundesliga top scorer for each of the last 5 seasons — and who set the league record of 41 goals in 2020-21 — will be no easy task for Bayern Munich.
