Barcelona captains deny to lower their salary for a third time

With their financial trouble slowly starting to solve, Barcelona are in need of an immediate economic injection as they look to balance the books before the new season.

Barcelona have recently considered the possibility of reducing the costs by asking the players to take up another salary cut of around 50%.

The club had firstly wanted the older players to reduce their salaries temporarily, considering the financial crisis.

The players like Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique are on higher salaries, with the latter being the highest remunerated player in the team.

Though Barcelona have yet to reach their older players over a potential salary cut, they have no intention to defer to pressure.

The report shows that the Barça virtuoso are not interested in taking a pay cut as they have already done the same twice in the recent past.

Pique, Alba and Busquets’ salary was already lowered during the pandemic. It was after another pay cut last summer when the club were unable to book new players because of the high expenses of the team.

With the legends making an abundance of sacrifices in the recent past, it is proposed that Barcelona find other methods in their attempts to cut the costs.

On the other hand, Sergi Roberto has agreed to take up a salary cut to lengthen his agreement at Barcelona. He is set to sign a new deal at Camp Nou next week.

Barcelona have also asked a few of their edged players to quit the club in the summer. Their leaving could go a long way in freeing up the squad and adding a financial support before the new season.
