AC Milan triumphed their first Serie A title in 11 years following defeating Sassuolo 3-0 to fetch the crown from local rivals Inter Milan.
Requiring just a point to assert the Scudetto Milan swept their hosts aside thanks to an Olivier Giroud brace and another from Franck Kessie in the first half of the game.
Stefano Pioli’s Milan finished two points before Inter, who defeat Sampdoria 3-0 in the San Siro.
Fans partied in Milan and gathered onto the pitch in Reggio Emilia as the ‘Rossoneri’ came back to the top of the Italian game after years of inferior teams and financial problems since their last league crown in 2011.
Pioli’s men were bossy in winning their 6th game on the bounce and earning a title which for long tracts of the season locked like Inter’s to lose.
They were aided by a hat-trick of assists from winger Rafale Leao, who is purportedly a summer target for PSG.
Giroud has struck some of the most pivotal goals of Milan’s charge to the title and again showed the reason behind he is the man for the big occasion in the 17th minute.
Sassuolo immediately sagged in the face of a Milan attack and handed Giroud the chance to net an almost similar second just following the half-hour mark.
Leao was again the provider, this time grabbing the ball from Gian Marco Ferrari ahead of rolling another low pass over for Giroud, who whipped in his 12th of the season and made it celebration time in the stands.
And it was another blunder from a Sassuolo player 4 minutes later which permitted Milan to relax and enjoy the celebrations kicking off around them.
This time it was Maxime Lopez who was fetched by Rade Krunic, with Leao being fierce this time down the right and cutting back for Kessie, who thrashed in the third to sign off in perfect style before his move to Barcelona as a free agent in the close season.
The second half was all set for the Milan celebrations and in spite some spirited Sassuolo play it was only a matter of time ahead of the away side booked the title for a 19th time.
