Britain’s 2018 Tour de France champion Geraint Thomas triumphed the Tour of Switzerland following Sunday’s 8th and final stage.
Thomas, 36, Welshman booked victory after the 25.6 km time-trial in Liechtenstein, triumphed by Belgian rider Remco Evenepoel of Quick-Step.
Thomas, an individual time-trial specialist, ended second 3 seconds behind the winner to fetch victory from Colombian Sergio Higuita who had started the day wearing the leader’s yellow jersey.
The race was hit by a wind of COVID-19 cases with around 40 of the initial 79 riders who started the race withdrawing.
