Ruturaj Gaikwad becomes joint-fastest to score 1000 IPL runs

Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad matched legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar’s achievement on Sunday as he became the joint-fastest Indian to score 1000 runs in the history of the IPL.

Gaikwad, who took 31 innings to reach the milestone, smashed Sunrisers Hyderabad bowler Marco Jansen for a whopper on the first ball of the sixth over to attain the four-digit mark in IPL.

He got his prosperity touch back with a magnificent 99 during the IPL match versus SRH at the MCA stadium in Pune.

Gaikwad (99 off 57 balls), who triumphed the Orange Cap last season, was at his noxious best as he thrashed six sixes and as many fours ahead of falling short of a deserving hundred by just a run.

Tendulkar and Gaikwad are followed by Suresh Raina (34 innings), Rishabh Pant (35 innings) and Devdutt Padikkal (35 innings) on the list of four-digit mark.
