Barcelona midfielder Pedri’s season may be finished following the LaLiga club stated that the he had sustained a thigh injury, giving no time bar for his return.
Pedri has been an imperative part in Barca’s midfield but coach Xavi Hernandez was coerced to take him off at halftime in Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final trounce by Eintracht Frankfurt that thrashed the Spanish side.
“Tests carried out this morning have confirmed that Pedri has a rupture in his left biceps femoris. He is out and his recovery will determine his availability,” the club stated in a statement.
Pedri, who made over 50 features in his debut season with Barca, concurred a new agreement in October till 2026 which included a release clause of €1 billion ($1.08 billion).
Barca, who are out of all cup tournaments, are second in LaLiga 12 points crawling leaders Real Madrid but with a game in hand.
