BCCI looking to organize entire IPL 2022 in Maharashtra

The Board of Control for India (BCCI) is forethinking to hold the entire 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) in Maharashtra considering the COVID-19 pandemic in the nation.

Because of the rapid increase of coronavirus cases in the country, the BCCI is looking to execute Plan B for the smooth running of the forthcoming IPL season.

In the previous two years, the BCCI faced challenges in holding the T20 league. Even as the entire IPL 2020 took place in the United Arab Emirates, the 2021 season had to be relocated out of India due to the exigency of COVID-19 cases in the team camps.

The BCCI is planning to hold the upcoming IPL season at four venues – the Wankhede Stadium, the Brabourne Stadium, and the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje, near Pune.

The sources also stated that if the conditions do not ameliorate in India, the BCCI may also shift the upcoming IPL season out of India.
