Jurgen Klopp discloses Liverpool require Takumi Minamino ‘desperately’ following the Reds forward returned to action.
Minamino presented in the second half of the 4-1 FA Cup third round triumph over Shrewsbury Town at Anfield on Sunday.
The Japan international had missed the previous two games at Leicester City and Chelsea with a slight muscle objection.
Liverpool will be lacking main forwards Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for the next few weeks because of Africa Cup of Nations duty, whilst Divock Origi continues to be unsettled by a knee matter.
The remaining of January sees the Liverpool playing both legs of their Carabao Cup semi-final versus Arsenal and Premier League games facing Brentford and Crystal Palace. They then have a home FA Cup fourth round tie with Cardiff City in February’s first weekend.
And of Minamino’s return, Klopp stated: “Taki trained only twice after his injury, the game was part of his rehab.
“Taki was injured, nothing serious but serious enough that he couldn’t play. It won’t be the longest rehab in his life.
